Trivia - 8/29/2015

PostSat Aug 29, 2015 7:53 am

In 1969 we had a tie in the AL Cy Young voting. It is the only time that has happened.

Who are the two players?

Bonus: Who would you have voted for if you would have had a vote?

Bonus trivia question (sorry to hijack your thread, Joe).

Who was the first man to play for a World Series champion in both leagues?

Mclain and Cuellar are correct. I agree I would have voted for Mclain too.

No problems on asking additional trivia. I remember when the boards were busy in the old days. It seems that it is dead for the most part anymore.

I can see the argument for both players. McLain was a "disappointment", with a 24-9, 2.80 ERA after his killer 31-6, 1.96 in 1968. Cuellar, meanwhile, was 23-11, 2.38 for the 109 win Orioles. Modern-day voters would have given a ton of support for Sam McDowell at 18-14, 2.94 with 285 K's for the 62-99 Indians.
