1-2-3 Shuffle League 111 Million DH Quickie Draft

PostMon Mar 02, 2015 3:12 am

Is the unadulterated pool of a quabtrillion players something we need as players? I for one crave some pullback on the talent pool in this or any sim game; this is a great game for that, real textural single season performances by...every player ever. Real players, not Ralph Getzs. Yet,I've only played in a few shuffled leagues, so few, I can't quite even say, or remember if I liked them.

Yes the randomness/unfairness/top-heaviness can be unsettling, but I always thought it had more potential as some sort of well mannered and disciplined single card set. Either Strat designed or community created.

Why is it nobody plays Shuffled?

Don't get me wrong, I love adding players to the pool and want it to continue to happen but just need a little more craft in the way the set is designed. Feel free to express your wishes for the the next "set"

REPRICE PLAYERS

Add
2003 Marlins, other teams. Great idea by Steve F here about adding whole teams again. This is what I'd be most for.
2003 S. Rolen, 2004 B. Abreau, 2005 P. Konerko 1962 F. Robinson, 2002 M. Tejada,
any 2000s other all-strat0 talent.

I've played in 4 or 5 shuffle leagues and really enjoyed them ... maybe advertise for a shuffle league on the board? I for one would join up.

What I miss is the historic single season set approach. 1969 was an interesting game where cards that mean absolutely nothing in the context of ATG really meant something. There was ONE 2b with a 1 range, Felix Millan, ONE RP who qualified as a "super-reliever," Ken Tatum, etc. Individual players defined your team (just like in real life). In ATG you can always find multiple players to fit your strategy at every position -- at this point, even the best cards are to a great extent interchangeable.

I think there are SOOO many league choices now, that finding 12 guys who want to play a certain cap or shuffle etc is difficult.

We are beginning the 9th season of a Shuffle/Keeper League. You can have keepers from your previous season's roster, but the Shuffle creates a randomness in the fact that the guys you want to keep may not be in the next season's Shuffle. Plus, the challenge of having to put together a roster from shuffles anywhere from 1000-2000 in size.

Yogi Berra / L. Strether: They're unpopular because no one wants to play them.

You pick a Shuffle size, say, 1,200 cards. Then HAL randomly selects 1,200 cards, and those 1,200 cards comprise your complete player set for that particular league. You may have 3 Babe Ruths to choose from, you may only have the SP Babe Ruth, or you may not have a Babe Ruth at all, for example.

great thanks andy. Sounds like an interesting twist and would definitely lead to getting deep into the set.

Hey Druid, who's Yogi/L. Stretcher?

Problem is Rosie, they may not get deep enough into the set, as they're pretty top-heavy. A great feature would be a search engine just like on the free agents pool. Year range would be the best. Ideally (for me) a league would be a capless LIVE draft that had a "capped" talent pool so it functions like a 80~100 million league.

Here's a 1200 card (heya andy) and 60 stadium shuffle. Ruth, Bonds, Hornsby, Pete and Pedro. Plenty of lower priced talent if anyone's interested

111 mil, DH, LIVE DRAFT

You can impose a player salary cap as well, like no players in your shuffle over 7m.
