What a joy he was for baseball.

He played in 5 decades from the 40's to the 80's.

One tidbit about Minoso's contribution to MLB integration: Visiting teams to Washington always stayed at the Mayflower Hotel in downtown D.C. The hotel refused to admit blacks, requesting that such players be housed elsewhere. The White Sox refused to do that and simply changed their season accommodations to a small hotel near the Maryland border in NW Washington, almost three miles further away from Griffith Stadium. The following season, the Mayflower reversed its policy and agreed to admit blacks.
