Please someone correct me if this is wrong-

but I have Nolan Ryan *SP6 who went down for a 6 game injury;
which means that a .50 cent SP is now being used.

This is the first time I can recall a *SP going down for more than 3 games-
Was under the impression that was the max they could go down for.

has anyone else had this happen?

Here's your answer:

Injury limits
Position players
Real-life AB+BB Max. length of injury
0-599 15 games
600-679 3 games
680+ remainder of game

Pitchers
Real-life IP Max. length of injury
0-199 15 games
200+ 3 games

Here is the website that I used: http://somonline.wikia.com/wiki/Injuries

yes, I use NR frequently and have lost him a few times for long enough to lose some starts. Previous poster is correct about the 200 IP threshold. If your reserve nickel starter isn't * it can screw up your bullpen pretty bad too if he misses two starts.

Note that Strat normally does not award the SP* for pitchers with under 200 IP. That Ryan card did not have the * for a number of years until Bernie added it a few versions ago for reasons that no longer really make sense, as we have multiple Ryan cards now.
