I'm afraid that I have to take the hit for the Keeler 1898 card being nominated. I certainly looked at his awesome 1897 season but I tend to favor players with less injury risk and unfortunately 1898 Keeler falls just short of the infamous 600 ab + walks total (564 abs and 35 walks) so I focused on the years - 1894, 1895 and 1899 - in which he went over 600 combined. Unfortunately somehow when I made the nomination I listed 1898 instead of the other 3 years, totally my bad.

in response to djp_77...i think we are getting there with some franchises such as the blue jays as we have added green bautista delgado and olerud in last 2 additions. i will continue to push for some better blue jay seasons to make them a viable club for theme leagues.

aaron hill, tony batista, bj ryan, hentgen (cy young winner-yet we have a luis leal card?), duane ward, eichorn, 40 hr barfield 86 etc

I MUCH prefer adding whatever cards need to be added to the 1900s-1990s time frame.

I'm not as big a fan of adding current players, Negro Leaguers, and pre-1900s cards. I use them, like everyone else, because to not use them in regular, non-franchise leagues puts you at a disadvantage.

I play ATG for the historical angle. If I wanted to play current players, I'd be playing 20xx games.
Many have different preferences based on the leagues they usually play. Since I organize and play mostly Franchise Leagues from the 20th Century with 80-120m caps, my preference is to add 1900s-1990s players that aren't properly represented. THEN, once that process is complete, add deserving 20xx cards.

I think in addition to adding a few more player cards for the Blue Jays, Padres, Expos, Mariners, and even Marlins and Rockies, we need a few well-thought out TEAM drop for these franchises. These franchises need more mid-range and scrub choices as well as a few more big time cards. For example, dropping the 92 or 93 Blue Jays team, the 93 Expos, the 93 WHITE SOX(their exp roster is WEAK, plus that would add Wilson Alvarez and Alex Fernandez and a decent Lance Johnson), 89 or 96 Padres, 97 or 03 Marlins, for example. I don't think the D'Backs and Rays have been around quite long enough to worry about their representation yet.

If we don't watch out, the 1990s-2000s will be unplayable as franchises due to the fact that we aren't adding any .75-.50 scrubs or 2-5m players for lower caps.

This makes sense to me!

i have begun to play more franchise leagues. its much harder to cobble together a perfect roster like most gm's struggle to do. i will win with a jays team some day!!!

whatever makes more players play more strat makes me more happy. i am glad we shouted down the cuban and japanese players as these are closed leagues and skewed stats. it was a nice collective movement and was done for the betterment of our game. as we move forward with new card selections its nice to see everyone participating with votes and opinion.

I don't see why we can't this many new cards per month, they did it this way for a while back at TSN. I do not mind repeats of players already in the set if they are great players or good cards. It would be nice to add more players not represented, and new cards of existing players.
