I'd love to see some persuasive suggestions as to who to vote for. 4 of my votes are up for grabs (I'll be voting for Tommy Davis, as I'd love to use that card).

Well, not sure to tell who to vote for, but I prefer some of the guys listed from the 1920s-1990s. I'm not really interested in adding a bunch of pre-1900 cards, and the recent year cards (2000s) will have their time soon enough and can be played in the 200x seasons.

I totally agree with that

1985 Gary Carter - his best year as a Met, 32 HRs, .853 OPS. He gives the Mets a legit catcher for franchise leagues...

I haven't played franchise leagues, but I know that the franchise league fans are eager to add some players that will help out franchises that are at present a little short on ATG talent.

I'm going to hold off on voting for a while and would be happy to hear from franchise fans about the players they'd really like to see added to the list. ;)

I agree with Andy in particular on the pre-1900 crowd. Baseball changed its rules and moved the pitcher back from 50 feet to 60' 6'' in 1887, and for a while pitchers got knocked around.

Putting a lot more guys in from 1887 to 1894—when hitters had a field day while pitchers were learning to deal with the new distance—isn't a high priority for me. We've got enough guys like that in ATG already to represent that era. Just my 2 cents, of course... ;)

The reason I nominated Wee Willie Keeler is that he was certainly one of the best hitters of all time and should be better represented than by the single card available from one a good, but not great year. The nominated a card is for the 1898 season in which he batted .385 with a .420 OBP.

There are some nice choices here, but my picks came down to:

Zack Greinke: with all due respect to Andy, I have no problems with post-2000 guys joining the club. 2009 Cy Young winner, one of the few pitchers on the list, nice addition to the Royals franchise that has often been associated with good pitching

Roger Metzger: hard to believe we don't have a card yet. Led the league in triples in 1973, winner of the gold glove. Arguably his best offensive season. Nice addition to the Houston franchise to offer an alternative to Dickie Thon.

Mickey Vernon: 1953 batting champ and league leader in doubles. Finished third in MVP voting on a fifth place team. Nice addition to the Senators (and by extension, Twins) franchise.

Tony Lazzari: .354/.429/.561 slash. By far, his best offensive year. I know, the Yankees really don't need another player, but I have a soft spot for San Francisco born and bred players.

Wayne Terwilliger: a symbolic pick. I succumbed to Maxie Minoso's argument (Maxie is Wayne's page sponsor on Baseball Reference) that a person like long-serving baseball man Terwilliger, even if he'll never make 200 mil rosters, deserves a card. Would take his place among an all too short PHA-post roster.

That said, I'd be more than reasonably happy with anyone on the addition poll.

I wanted more small ball choices and with that in mind voted for the following: Sweeney, O'Neil, Joyce, Browning and Seymour. Seymour is the only one currently with a card and the only one post 1900. I also wanted players added who would actually be used on a regular basis.
