As to the settings asked elsewhere, Stealing is normal, with big stealers set to steal more, B guys no setting, and others set to don't steal. H&R is normal with don't set for great OBP guys, and more set for B rated guys without good OBP.

I actually looked at your team while preparing Wipeout 15's roster.....i have 2 of those pitchers you listed on my list as I have them in other leagues as well!! Thanks for sharing!!!

I'm just hoping to stay ahead of you for overall record in Wipeout 14. I've always had late season dropoffs, at least in this one I don't think I can drop all the way out of the playoffs.

Don't think staying ahead of me for #1 seed will be a problem bk! My team is proof that patience is a virtue in this game after my 2-13 start and just 6 home games in my first 36. Very happy at this point with how things worked out!!

I REALLY wish I had good fire control over my pitchers bunting. They should bunt every time, unless two outs. I have NO idea, how to make that happen.

I hardly ever bunt in DH leagues but get a modest amount of bunting (mostly from pitchers, I think) in non-DH leagues.

On the manager strategy page of my latest 60M non-dh league, I find a range of Sac attempts from a low of 49 to a high of 135, with five teams over 100 Sac Att.

If your pitchers were bunting on every opportunity with 1 out or less, and other hitters were bunting some of the time, I'm guessing that might approach 200 Sac attempts--an increase of 65 over my most recent non-DH league. But frankly having pitchers always bunt with one out seems like a somewhat odd strategy to me. Why not try to get a hit off the opposing pitcher's card with one out and a runner on 2nd--rather than set up best-case scenario of a runner on 3rd with 2 outs? Also, do you really want, say, a 7N bunting all the time?

My pitchers in this 60M league managed a BA of .190, with 18 doubles and 23 walks. That's not exactly impressive, but OTOH, I'd rather have a .190 hitter swinging away with 1 out and a runner on second than bunting. On this staff Three Finger Brown hit .229 with an OPS of .606 and Walter Johnson hit .217 with .472 OPS. Again, these aren't awesome, but I'd rather have them hitting away than bunting with a runner on 2nd and 1 out.

But, I think that to answer your original question, the best way to maximize pitcher bunting would be to set bunting on Very Aggressive in Team Strategy and then tweak by setting any hitters you don't want bunting on "don't bunt" in Hitter Prefs.

To be specific, if I had a man on first, with the pitcher up,one out, I want him to bunt. If the guy is on second, hit away; maybe he'll get lucky.

In short, I don't want the pitcher getting on for a fielders choice or hitting into a DP.

Skip,

I feel kind of bad because you are 1-8 since we gave you all of that advice. But for my part; I swear O'Rourke can hit. Here are just a few example.

No worries my friend! PATIENCE!!!! We shall see, some players work for some and not for others!! I am constantly being told to replace Molitor in 60 and 80 leagues, but he does so well for me I always go back to him!!

This is my newest team adventure, which opens on Monday: http://onlinegames.strat-o-matic.com/team/1382876

Is this one put together any better than the original team I linked to in this thread???

Thanks,
Skip

Skip,

I like it. Glanville, Wills 62, and Wilson 80 have always done very well for me and Rixey is a great pitching value. I have had mixed success with Brandom. I just haven't tried "small ball" in long time. I'll have to give it another whirl sometime soon. Good luck on Monday night.

Thanks Ed! Hopefully this team is good enough when we walk into your "house"! I am most anxious to see how the new Garr card does!!
