i got one for ya. i won a gold glove with a 4 in left field! the 57 williams in LF. he's a 4(+2)2. he had zero errors for the year! wish there was a way to tell how many balls hit to him were X-hits as opposed to errors? if we had that stat available to us it would go a long way in settling the 1 vs 2 vs 3 vs 4 fielding rating argument.

If you go to Simulated Fielding on the roster, it shows the stats.

Seriously, I think 1s up the middle and 2s or worse at the corners give you optimal offense. That's age-old baseball wisdom, and i think it mostly applies to SOM, too. 8-)

I don't have a problem at all with 2's in CF. In fact, in the next round of the Barnstormers, I drafted this Mantle fellow in the first round. Hopefully he won't hurt me too much in the field.

Scorehouse, I have 2 teams that have played the same amount of games. 1 smallball at $60M, and another no limit bomber.
I have Ichiro in RF for both teams, so it's a valid comparison, if 109 games too small a sample.

I had thought the D would be more important on the bomber team because almost 3 runs a game more would result in more chances.

I was wrong, it was 40 chances for Ichiro at $60M and 33 in the no limit. It may be different at SS or CF.

The rest of the positions have had multiple players, platoons, or home/away lineup diffs. If you want to try the math, I'll post a link to both teams, and the team to which I traded Mantle, so you can see if there's anything useful there.
