can't believe all the complaints...

PostSun Jul 13, 2014 10:39 am

here's why. when strat announced the 8 would include jap/cuban player cards, there was a huge revolt about these cards without anyone ever having seen them? i'm sure Strat never anticipated this revolt. cowering to the minions, which means they actually listened to them when ironically they obviously didn't listen to them prior to the launch given the lack of requested new cards not in the 8, Strat withdrew the j/c cards. i don't know the number of j/c cards prepared for release but i'm sure it took time and research to get them ready to go. time and research that could have gone into requested cards like the best seasons of several HOF'ers already in the set. hence, with the revolt and their commitment to release the 8, it appears Strat was caught with "their pants down", especially in new card inventory to include in the set. you would think they would make they j/c cards available as an option to TEMPORARILY fill the void. they've got them let us see them. now a solution, Strat should immediately begin releasing new cards into the set on a weekly basis. don't care if its just 10-20, just do it. the j/c cards should be made available as an additional player set option no different than pre war, post war, etc. complaints about game engine improvements is a different issue. i don't know how difficult or how much work re-programming/adding new features to the game engine involves? the number 1 complaint has always been the bullpen. still don't know why my left hand specialist like sambito will be left in for 3 innings facing a right handed stacked batting lineup in minute maid? how difficult would it be to add a "2/3 batters maximum" option for RP's? anyway i think this would be a great start to rejuvenation and enthusiasm. and capitalism!

Aren't the j/c cards from the set SoM released as regular cards?

I don't think they did the research specifically for the online game, its just they are now available in the regular card set.

Personally don't have a strong feeling one way or the other on using them- if they are there, I will.

The thing is that back from the TSN days, we were promised 10-12 new cards EVERY month, wouldn't it be nice if we went back to that?
Then again, will it matter? The amount of people currently active is pretty low- generously 2-3 leagues of any cap filling per day and its less than a week into the launch.

Seeing the j/c cards would not matter at all to me. I just didn't want to see them in the ATG set with no options. Create a Fantasy Set and add the j/c cards, Roy Hobbs, Sid Finch, Mexican Leaguers, and that scientist/pitcher from "It Happens Every Spring." I'm serious about that BTW. Let those who want to have them have an option to play them, just don't make them part of the standard ATG set.

i think the strat brats need to chill and get over themselves

you would think with all of the damn complaining strat would just say the hell with it and pull the game, not worth it to them to put up with spoiled brats who will never be happy

Considering the last big rollout crashed the entire website for what, 2 or 3 weeks? This has to be considered a success by comparison.

Yeah man, the site stayed up and running! I can't recall who said something like "set the bar low enough and you'll be happy" but there you go.

currently there are 65 public and private leagues available to join. though unlikely lets say 50 of those fill and start play the following monday. at ~$20 per team or $240 per league thats 12000k or ~625k per year. however, each of those 50 leagues awards 3 free plays at the seasons end. those credits are used. so i'll figure at least one free credit is used in each league which would deduct a minimum of 1000/wk or 52k per year. so we're down to revenue of ~575k. paying bernie, garcia and their support `with benefits like obamacare would come to at least 300k,(based on New York high wage and costs). deduct other normal business expenses there's not a lot left over. at first i thought my 50 leagues per week was generous but i may be underestimating that number. i've got 5 teams scheduled to go monday and i doubt i'm 10% of the weekly total for this week? thoughts

Not completely accurate. You can for example buy the 1986 Japanese season disk. But if you buy the 1986 MLB season disk you will not get any Japanese players. They are not mixed. They are not available in the regular card set. Like any strat season year I could take cards from that Japanese set and throw them in a created league in the cdrom game and play them. But that is not the same as being included.

If I bought and played that 1986 Japanese season I would expect everyone to reproduce their numbers. Randy Bass hitting 47 HRs might be legitimate and expected. But if you took Randy Bass who had a total of 9 HRs in 366 plate appearances against actual MLB pitching on any MLB team that year I doubt he would hit 31 HRs as Strat says he would. He was in Japan because HE COULDN'T HIT. Yet the Strato writeup on his site claims he had a .359 BA and 31 HR major league equivalance performance.
