Even The Playing Field Franchise League

PostSun Nov 09, 2014 10:58 am

I have been in many franchise leagues and as most have noticed New York teams usually rule I mean the Yankees position players are almost unstoppable,so i have been toying with a way to make a true competative league. What I came up with is a 12 team franchise league with a twist a three round draft to help the weaker teams be on par. This will be a 12 season theme.Round one just the bottom six teams get a pick the W/Sox,Reds,Indians,Braves,Tigers and Dodgers.Round two bottom six plus A's,Cards,R/Sox and Cubs.Round three add the Giants. You will notice the Yankees have to stand pat with all their superstars can they still win. After season one the draft will go by records. This will be a 150 Mil cap that way the Yanks can field their best. The other teams can add a Brett if you are weak at third or Wagner if you need a SS.Don't see much difference in this than most franchise leagues where a player is eliglble if he was a Septemer call up late in his career and there fore you can pick him.The teams I picked are in order of strenth are.High card dollar rules if players is not on assigned list. You must pick stadium from your franchise.
You must have a 25 Man Roster

1) Chicago White Sox
season Assigned Dick Allen-Joe Jackson-Carlton Fisk and Hoyt Wilhelm
2)Cincinnati Reds
Assigned Tom Seaver-Ken Griffey Jr - Joe Morgan -Frank Robinson
3) Cleveland Indians
Assigned Manny Ramirez-Luis Tiant-Satchel Paige any and Don Mossi-Nap Lajoie
4)Atlanta-Boston Braves
Assigned Joe Torre-Billy Hamiliton-Hugh Duffy and Greg Maddux
5)Detrroit Tigers
Assigned Ivan Rodriguez-Miguel Cabrea-Jim Bunning and Hal Newhouser
6)Brooklyyn-LA Dodgers
Assigned Mike Piazza-Eddie Stanky and Phil Regan-Bill Dahlen
7)Oakland-Philadelphia-KC-Post
Assigned Mark McGwire-Reggie Jackson-Catfish Hunter and Dennis Eckersley-Eddie Collins
8) St Louis Cards
Assigned Ted Simmons-Johnnny Mize-Rogers Hornsby Jim Edmonds, Jack Clark and Steve Carlton
9) Chicago Cubs
Assigned Ripper Collins-Pete Alexander-Andre Dawson-Lee Smith
10) Boston Red Sox
Assigned Tris Speaker-Pero Martinez- Rudy York-Elston Howard and Roger Clemens
11) New York-San Fran Giants
Assigned Frankie Frisch-Barry Bonds and Stu Miller
12) New York Yankees

I am intrigued but a little confused about the setup. Given that this is a 12 season commitment, does that mean that each season we would cycle through the different franchises so everyone has a turn with each franchise or do we stay with the initial franchise choice and draft additional players prior to each of the 12 seasons? If we do stay with one franchise throughout, do we keep the previously drafted additional players going forward and just add more as the seasons go on?

Thanks for any and all clarifications

Yes you will get your chance with each team so according to each season the draft position will change as worst to first record from previou season is how the draft will go

1. Count me in.... Carr20

2. Am I correct in assuming that Brooklyn Dodgers also includes LA EXP?

3. While I probably should not open this can of worms, because we will probably all have different opinions, just a comment about "strength rankings." It has been my experience that the Cubs do far better in the fantasy world than they have in real life. You have now "given" them Pete Alexander too. I don't think Cubs need three additional players.

The Dodgers, on the other hand, have not fared as well. I think they need help, especially given the lack of any non-Dodger supplemental. In other words, I'd flip the Cubs and Dodgers in your strength rankings...making Dodgers 6 and Cubs 9.
