7-game Semi-Finals schedule tweak

7-game Semi-Finals schedule tweak

Postby bernieh » Wed Apr 13, 2011 1:19 pm

This announcement affects [b:44ae311a9c]All-Time Greats VI and 2010 Season leagues only[/b:44ae311a9c], i.e. the sets that have adopted the new 7-game Semi-Finals format (as opposed to the old 5-game Semi-Finals).

In order to rectify the current situation whereby Games 5 and 6 of the Semi-Finals are played on the same real-life day, yet take place in 2 different ballparks, we will be moving from a 2-2-2-1 real-life schedule to 2-2-1-1-1, [b:44ae311a9c]effective for playoffs starting on Monday night, April 25[/b:44ae311a9c] and beyond.

To illustrate in more detail, currently the Semi-Finals are played like this:

Mon.: Games 1 and 2 at Team A
Tues.: Games 3 and 4 at Team B
Wed.: Game 5 at Team B and Game 6 at Team A :!:
Thurs.: Game 7 at Team A

For playoffs starting on April 25, they will be played as follows:

Mon.: Games 1 and 2 at Team A
Tues.: Games 3 and 4 at Team B
Wed.: Game 5 at Team B
Thurs.: Game 6 at Team A
Fri.: Game 7 at Team A

This will push the Finals back 1 day to start on Saturdays going forward.

Thanks for your attention! Now pardon me while I make sure to test this all out.

:D

I really appreciate the heads up since it lets me know there still are playoffs.......I haven't experienced them personally in some time now.

This latest tweak is a step in the right direction, but...

There is a better way to tweak the semis format, IMHO.

Day 1: Games 1 and 2
Day 2: Games 3, 4, 5
Day 3: Games 6 and 7

The advantages of my suggestion are that you can set your lineups, and starters for each park, as each subset of games are played at only one park, and this will also not screw up the current finals schedule where finals always end on Monday night at the latest.

And best of all, no one game per night the last three nights.
