Pitcher Batting and Hold ratings now on player lists

Pitcher Batting and Hold ratings now on player lists

Postby bernieh » Mon Jan 03, 2011 11:47 am

Just a quickie.

All draft and free agent lists of pitchers now include 2 extra columns: Hold (e.g. "-2") and Pitcher's Batting (e.g. "2WR"). For those of you who care.

I expect that this may lead to more requests for extra columns, and I'll listen to them, but I may not get to them right away. This was easy enough and I just did it on a whim. Once I make sure the new Best-of-7 Semi-Finals format for ATG VI proceeds smoothly, I'll be working on the last few things I promised for ATG VI a while back.

Enjoy, and Happy New Year!

Thanks, Bernie.

As for other categories to add down the line, I suggest baserunner rating for position players.

Just scanning the list sorted by bat rating. Interesting to note that I do not see any pitchers with W rating until you get down to the 5W rating. Interesting that the 5W sorts higher than the 5N. Surprised there were not any pitchers with 8 rating paired witn W rating. Surely as many pitchers as we have in the set there was someone with a high batting average but no power. Yet as I scan my fragmented memory I cannot think of anyone that fits that profile.

Quirk in the sort algorithm? Quirk in my memory? Quirk in stratos pitcher hitting ratings? Or just a real life phenomon that I have never noticed before now?

Thanks Bernie!

Noticed some newer players around so here are the pitchers batting cards for anyone that needs them.

The cards 1 through 8 are not simply ordered by increasing batting average. You'll see that #5 has by far the greatest number of hits, and the BA of #6 drops off a cliff... but that's where the power starts.

5W sorts higher than 5N because it's simply sorting the whole thing in reverse "alphabetical" order. I admit it's not desirable, but it was the easiest way by a lot.

Bernie, thanks for your usual fine job in improving the game.

As for further improvements, I agree with AeroDave10 that pitcher D would be nice. Also, I don't know how you would show this, but it would be nice to know all the pitchers' DP (gbA) chances and BP single chances.

As for the hitters, it would be nice to know the stealing rating, OPS & clutch hits.

Thanks again for a job well done and, just as importantly, your willingness to consider suggestions. - Bernie W
