3B-4e35 - am I insane?

Postby The Biomechanical Man » Sat May 27, 2006 10:12 pm

I am playing my second 1969 league, and I'm unsure about a preseason decision. I know a lot of people aren't 1969 "experts", but maybe advice for this situation is universal regardless of SOM game.

Any help appreciated over here: Killebrew at 3B?

Thanks. :)

Dunno offhand how good Killebrew's '69 card is (since I do know he was the MVP and he's Harmon Killebrew, I assume it's pretty darn good :), or whether putting him at a different position would be better in the context of your particular team. But sure, just to answer the general question, I'd be willing to play a 3B-4e35 who otherwise fit into my team plan. After 1B, 3B is the second-best position to hide a bad fielder (i.e., these are the positions where the distinction between a bad fielder and a good fielder is the least -- corner OF gets fewer total plays than 3B, but that is more than made up for by the fact that the differences between the various OF ranges are absolutely massive.) Of course, you can limit the defensive damage by getting a defensive replacement.

Wow...just took a peek at his card through your links and at your park...would [i:f45119aa1e]I [/i:f45119aa1e]play him in 3rd? Heck yes! 8) Wooof :!: he should rock it big time in your park.

I've player lesser cards with similar defenses in 3rd. Not always but I have, like for example Aramis or players like that, I have even gone with 5s in the corners...with [i:f45119aa1e]lesser[/i:f45119aa1e] cards than that Killebrew one.

I think you should be fine...

I'm definitely going to play Killebrew [i:4d1e26bd3c]somewhere[/i:4d1e26bd3c]. The real question is whether I play him at 3B, with Horton as DH, or play Killebrew at DH with someone like Tovar or Brown at 3B.

Good looking team. I love the thought of playing the '69 set but no time to read the cards and I take it there is no rating disk for this game? If there arent ratings, what do you guys do, read the cards?
