bullpen help

Postby Musialfan6 » Sun Oct 24, 2010 2:22 am

I'm in a 100M no DH league. My starting pitching is very good, my closer is very good but the rest of my bullpen stinks. How do I set the bullpen to make it so my starters never come out and if the do only my closer comes in? Also, since this is a no DH league HAL likes to pitch hit for the pitcher often. Since I want my starters to go most of the game, how do I get HAL not to pitch hit for my pitcher before the 8th inning or at least there's 2 men in scoring position? Your help is much appreciated.

1. Make your closer the only one you designate a bullpen role for.

2. Reliever "Avoid Using before 8th Inning"

3. Starter F7 or if you can stand it F6 and if you REALLY want to keep him in on that then SLOW HOOK. I'd recommend Quick Hook once he reaches that fatigue level.

4. In Strategy: Closer Usage: Maximize; Relief Usage: Conservative.

A team link would help us see the real nature of your staff.

This will keep your starters in until they are quite tired, then, when it reaches that Fx level, they will be yanked, but ONLY for you Closer.

Try it.

Good luck.

Yes, link would help. I say the same as Artie412, with this exception. If your SP are that good, set them @ F0. Then only designate your closer. F0 gets the max innings out of your starters, and ONLY in save situations, will HAL bring in your closer. Post a link, that would help.

Is this what your looking for:

Team was 3rd with 146 CG. JR Richard has the present record of 41 CG, N Ryan has 40.
I set all SP @ F0, letting them go the distance, in some cases as many as 12 innings. When BPv2 came out, this was a blessing to mgrs who hated seeing Pete or 3Finger pulled in the 7th, due to HALs brainFarts. I didn't have a set closer, just let the pen float. A friend of mine got 147 CG and the record that may NOT be broken, of only 17 innings by the BP. Thats awesome. Any way, thats how I got my CG. Set your closer as 8th or later and see what happens. He should only be brought in the 8th-9th and shut the door. Provided, HAL approves. LOL, good luck.

Here is the team your thinking of-

Not only 17 innings by the BullPen, but 4-20 game winners to boot. My last team was the best. Went to 6 gms in the finals. Of all the new features brought out, BPv2 is my favorite. In a game where the offense rules, BPv2 gave something back to the pitchers, at least in a small way. In a league where you could have Pete/Maddux/Walsh/3Finger, 150 CG is possible. Gives someone out there something to shoot for.
