When there is a runner on first, if the defense chooses to hold the runner at first, gbA+ turns into a single. If the defense does not hold the runner at first, yes, gbA is a double play ball.

Based on a post I read years ago, this is incorrect. The post said GBA+ did not apply in the super advances game and was therefore always just a GBA in SOMO.

Actually, gbA+(xx) becomes single** if the fielder xx plays in (e.g. ss when infield plays in).

When the runner is held, another sort of penalty kicks in. For a runner being held at first, with a lefty at-bat, 1b and ss loses 1 of range, and moreover 20% of balls hit at their directions will become single** instead of outs.

Almost right. Actually ++ is only a Si** when the infield is all the way in. Not corners in.

SUPER ADVANCED

17.12 Convert the "gb()+" to a SINGLE** ONLY when the infield is all the way in.

Confused, again......

So, does it make sense to have a player with a gb++ hitting behind a runner likely to be held, or in the super advanced game that we are playing does it matter at all?

Simple way to figure it... I count them as .5 of a GBA. I'm sure someone could do better, but this is quick and dirty.

Well, since holding doesn't matter at all, then your gb++ won't matter at all behind a base stealer. It only applies to infield all the way in.

In addition, I think most players have a ++ on their card unless they're a total K machine..
