Cheap 1b Platoon

Postby doug_tucker10 » Sat Jan 21, 2006 10:27 pm

anyone try cheap platoon at 1b?

i have a Shea team that has Valent/Giambi at 1b (subject to change)

I have Huff on the team but as of now i will be playing him at 3b... i know of a couple of cheap 3b platoons but like (on paper anyway) Valent/Giambi...

I've been partial to Gomez as a cheap platoon mate from the left side as well. There are some nice options out there for sure.

I love Giambi at Shea. I usually try to draft him just to keep likely Shea teams from getting him. Valent has been good for me too, so I like the platoon. Only issue is that Giambi will get hurt and Valent really can't play against LH pitchers, so you may be stuck with a pretty impotent 1b for some long stretches. Otherwise I like it. Let us know how it turns out.

Giambi went down for 3 games after 1 AB..Valent then hit 3 homeruns going full time in series :D (Aaron Rowand knocked in 9 runs battting leadoff in first game, he cooled off in second game and only knocked in 5) this was at Petco ...Giambi will have to wait to make his Shea debut...

btw..i have Arod AND Bonds on this team

Never used him, but Johnson at 1.24M appears to me like a pretty good first baseman to try in a platoon. He's a reverse lefty, which gives even more possibilities for platoon (he can start against reverse lefties and vs hard throwing right-handed). With his high injury, though, he needs to be platoon.

He was a super sub and spot starter for me in Shea. He produced 10 homers in 200 AB.
