[quote:68bcb3426f="Frank M"]I will call the Pizza Man. What movie?[/quote:68bcb3426f]

from the sound of the convention and Frank's hobby, I'd say "Free Willy" is a good call.

[quote:afdd211b4f="chasenally"][quote:afdd211b4f="Jack377"]Is it just me or is there no one that can hit at all this year? Especially lefthanded. I have Granderson on another team in Dodger Stadium and he's hitting .190 with 27 HRs as the season is about to end. Votto is on the same team and he's been ok to good...lots of doubles and walks and .304 average but he's struggling to get to 20 HRs himself. Basically he's been an excellent number 2 hitter but he's hitting 3rd. Berkman is there, too, and he does at least have 29 HRs and 80 walks but slugging 4 something overall. My regular way of doing things just isn't cutting it anymore.

That's why I picked Coors Field finally which is way out of my sweet spot...Can't hurt. Hope it's my team that hits all the homers in the wild, wild West.[/quote:afdd211b4f]

Ellsbury and Gonzalez are great. Should be for the money. Fielder has done very well for the money. I just finished with Granderson at Yankee Stadium and he batted .195/.290/.385 so I drafted him again![/quote:afdd211b4f]

Totally agree on those two, and Cano, especially for middle IF. There are a few others obviously, too. It just seems to me that once the 1st round or 2 of a draft is over, that's pretty much it...platoons and/or subpar LH hitters are all that's left. By the way, Grandy had 4 HRs (3 in one game)last night to get his slugging over .400. Salary drive I guess. 31 HRs, .191 with 6 games to go.

The issues with hitting are a few:

1) Hitting has decreased since the Steroid bans every season in the MLB, it follows to SOM

2) Bbrool's pricing has always overpriced OB and over the last few seasons the cost of defense has gone up as well. You're essentially getting charged and extra 2-4 mil (off position) for that 1 defense. So those 1 rated defense hitters that cost 4-6 mil? There's a reason they don't hit, you're paying for mostly defense.

3) It seems that ALL those decent BA, but low TB guys can't hit in this set. That I'm still not sure why. The Aybar, Bourjous, Maybin, Y Escobar cards, in every league they don't perform. I'm still not sure why that is, but I won't take one of those type of cards again.

4) Injuries! There were a lot last season, so if you want guys that are 3 game max injuries, most of them weren't great hitters. Can't help what happened

5) pitching got better. Couple that with #1 and the SOM online model of not facing the ********* pitchers and you have troubles.

Hmm, Escobar not performing, that's not a good thing to hear... all My teams have had either Reyes or Tulo and 1 with Andrus so far, so I had to try something differnt, was hoping he might fit the bill.
Toaltly agree on your points though, see Carlos Pena as a perfect example of the too costly for defense syndrome.

All good points...just seems even more stark this year...It's round 3 and you're looking at Alex Presley or somebody like that if you need a lefty bat. The bad years of Crawford, Heyward (even though his card didn't work last year), and Suzuki have a lot to do with that too I suppose...three fewer high-end outfielders that were there previously.

Doesn't mean he won't for you. But looking over my other leagues, don't [u:2eaab1aa0a]expect[/u:2eaab1aa0a] him to hit well vs RHP, only LHP.

I'm ready, but I've got a very busy night again tonight (softaball practice, music lessons, my parents were NEVER this busy for me).

I hope Chase gets his team loaded in the next hour or so.
