NLD 30 - Smell the glove!

Postby joethejet » Mon Jun 04, 2012 1:34 pm

AT,

You're right, he hit well because you're a great hitting coach! :P That must be it. Oh and every RHP he faced was horrible v RHB. 8-)

However I will point out that in your park IF you roll on his card every time, he would be expected to hit < .275 v RHP and only .297 v LHP.

Those numbers say he overperformed for you. Just sayin'

Of course, it's not unusual for someone on every team to better than expected so I'm probably just picking on you.

Did I win yet? At least I outperformed my pythag record of 68-94.

Probably my last attempt at a high BA team. Of course being in a division with 3 of the top 5 scoring teams didn't help either. Held my own at home and got crushed on the road.

JTJ,

I am not arguing that Beltre overperformed, although imo it was not by much. Rather I am arguing on the reason why he overperformed. ;)

I think it has less to do with rolls he got on his card, and more to do with luck & rolls on pitchers cards. Beltre batted most of the time against RHP behind 2 LH bats and ahead of another. Plus my park and LH leaning lineup suggests I saw more Righties good against LH bats than RH bats.

So it only makes sense that (a) Beltre got lucky with some good rolls on RH pitchers who werent strong against RH Bats and (b) HAL left in RH relief specialists who had been sent in to face the tough LH bats ahead of him (Votto/Ortiz/Presley).

So in summary, do I think Beltre overperformed? Yes to a degree. Do I think that overperformance was due solely to rolls on his card? No. I think more of the lucky rolls came off pitcher cards.

Wow, both Series are going 7 games! We'll know pretty quick who's in the finals.

Oh, my bad. You know with the transition, I'm not sure we'll be able to see who wins it all. You guys will have to keep us posted on the results.

also, we should probalby start thinking about round 2 aka NLD 31 Smell the cut grass (or something)

What's the schedule look for everyone?

I'm in Malaysia until next week. By then we should have a new champion.

Put your name down here if you're in for #31.
