I know it's early to be shaking it up, but I'd like to propose an adjustment to the Propsect Rules, before we get into the Prospect Draft.

Here's my reasoning behind the change:

In a different league I'm in where there is a two year limit on prospects, our definition of prospect is different, in that players without cards are ineligible for the current years FA draft, dramatically increasing the Prospect pool to include players that have a very high probability of having a card the following year.

That way a good portion of the prospects do actually become players you would want on your 30 man roster within that period.

The below proposal takes advantage of our system which allows Prospects to be actual MLB prospects, but while giving them some time to mature keeps teams from hoarding exceptional players.

Just throwing it out there, and I won't be upset if everyone says no, just looking for thoughts on it really:


1) Prospects are any player with no MLB experience at the start of the current years Spring Training who are signed by a MLB team before the start of Spring Training.

2) Once a prospect is drafted by a league team, they may maintain their prospect status, including being traded as a prospect to another league team, for a term of no more than 4 years from the year of their drafting unless they fulfill one of the following terms:
2a) A batter has more than 600 PA in a season
2b) A starting pitcher pitches more than 200 innings in a season
2c) A relief pitcher records more than 35 saves
2d) A player receives a card in the standard set (unleashed cards are exempt) on Strat-o-Matic's online game that has a value over 5 million dollars.

3) If any of the above conditions have been met or the 4 year limit has been reached, the player must be either promoted to the teams 30 man roster before the following spring draft or may be cut to be redrafted, either as a free agent or if eligible as a prospect again.

Sorry for the slow start this morning guys.

I was hoping we could maintain our pace from yesterday. About 3 rounds worth in a day is awesome.

Has the prospect draft order been determined yet?

The last couple of leagues I've been in from the initial draft, we used the reverse order of the FA draft.

Then serpentine for just this one. To records for next season.
