It's not that, I think what he is referring to is this.

If you wanted to access your PM inbox without having a new message, you used to be able to click on the "my profile" tab near you user name at the top of the forums which would bring you to your profile page. Once on that page there was a link to you PM mailbox.
Now if you click on the "my profile" tab, you are redirected to the Sporting news website, which also happens when you click any of the "my..." links next to your name. So without a new message and that handy dandy little envelope that popped up, there isn't a direct way to get to your inbox.
