What are restrictions on cap set up?

Postby Rjnewman » Thu Feb 02, 2012 2:52 pm

Is it increments of 20 million? What are options? We have done 60-80-100. 70 is hard? Advice?I thought something different than 60,80 would add a teeny bit of interest without complicating anything.

60-80-100-200 are the options provided by SOM. 70 mil would mean that we would need to monitor whether a team exceeds the cap. It could get a bit complicated with free agent moves. For example, if a team makes 6 free agent moves and has a total team salary of 67.54 mil - are they above or below the 70 mil cap. I'm fine with the 70 mil cap but the commish might need to police it during the season. One alternative is to keep a 70 mil cap but allow free agent moves at "no cost" meaning you could cut a 3.00 mil player and pick up a 3.00 mil and stay within the cap which remains at 70 mil rather than drop to 70 - (3 x 0.2) = 69.4 for the team that made the free agent move.

I took Franky idea so no monitoring after draft except 70 million cap and injury restriction which I will watch as commish.

RJ and franky... I'm still deciding whether to join or not, but with regards to monitoring the $70 M limit, it's rather straightforward. If it's set up as a $200 M league, the requirement is that a minimum of $130 M available must be maintained throughout the duration of the league.

Ken, that is a great point. How did I miss that? (creeping dementia) Anyway, instead of 200 mil, a 70 mil league could also be an 80 mil league where every team is required to keep 10 mil in cash all season.
