Newbie Qs

As someone unfamiliar with the mystery card element of SOM, I have a few questions before jumping into a league blind. First, how do you know which year a player is given and hence, who to drop and who to keep?

Second, when a player is dropped by a manager and his picked up by another team, can that player's chosen year change? And is there anything else a newbie manager should know about the mystery card game?

Thanks, Q

There are several threads about determining the year. Injury reveal can be the common definitive indicator depending on the card. Other helpful indicators are performance, splits (5L vs. 5R), walks/strike outs, rare plays (triples, hbp, HR if "W" side, etc.). The chosen year doesn't change during the season no matter how many times a player is cut or traded. Another indicator is "Hal" (the computer) knows which of the 5 years is selected and his actions (e.g., pinch hitting for a star, setting line up, platooning) can also be a good indicator.
