Doesn't matter if you started Maddux or Bernie Daniels
May as well put the extra $11 million in your hitters to try and get back in the game

All pitchers get shelled from time to time.

Big $$ pitchers can dominate any lineup on any given day. Tony Cloninger cannot.

An unlucky series of rolls. If I have a game where the rolls come off the pitcher card 5 times straight and the hitters were Bonds, Arky, Mantle, Josh Gibson, and Mathews can I argue might as well have a lineup full of Mario Mendozas?

But honestly I like the logic, makes it easier for me to get a great pitching staff.

Along a similar vein, what is the most lopsided % anyone has had in a game. I had a recent tour event where my opponents rolled 33 times on the hitters card compared to 13 times on my pitchers card for like a 72% split.

I think I gave up 13 runs in that game.

I humbly submit the names of the men who have thrown perfectos:
AL
Cy Young, Addie Joss, Charlie Robertson, Don Larsen, Catfish Hunter, Len Barker, Mike Witt, Kenny Rogers, David Wells, David Cone, Mark Buehrle,
Dallas Braden, Philip Humber

NL
Lee Richmond, John Ward, Jim Bunning, Sandy Koufax, Tom Browning, Dennis Martinez, Randy Johnson, Roy Halladay

Special Note:
Amando Galaraga

Yeah, there's no Cloninger, but there is a mixture of high value pitchers, mid-range guys, and well, lower quality guys. So yeah, even a Len Barker, a Mike Witt, a Kenny Rogers can dominate, completely, on a given day.

You might also try a 60 mil league. Put dominant pitchers in Petco with some defense and see what happens. Lots of 1-0, 2-1 games.

Of course, you are just as likely to get six consecutive rolls all off of the pitcher's card. (1/64 chance for each)

However, my first foray into ATG and using a pitching and defense strategy might be proving your original point--it's ugly so far!
