What is up with Trevor Plouffe??

12 games in June he is hitting:
.394, .420 OBP, 1.042 Slug, 1.462OPS, 4D, 9HRs, 16RBIs

On May 16th he was batting .138, .282 OBP, .262 Slug

Today he has moved his numbers up to:
.240, .311 OBP, .575 Slug, 14HRs

He has hit 13 HRs in the last 22 games. The next Hank Aaron? I think so!

Rob McQuown of Baseball Prospectus had this pegged pretty well on May 11.

[quote:e1cf525335]Trevor Plouffe (Yahoo! 1%, ESPN 0%, CBS 2%) has more value at other positions than he does as an outfielder, but he does have outfield eligibility, and being rated at both middle infield positions is just an added bonus. He actually looked like he might deserve some playing time in 2011 ala Brett Lillibridge in Chicago, slugging a whopping .635 in Rochester—giving him 30 Triple-A homers in 665 plate appearances between 2010 and 2011—and playing decently (.305 on-base percentage and .392 slugging percentage) in the majors… for a guy who could play shortstop, that is. As an outfielder, he only seems passable by comparison to the other options on the Twins this year. Erik Komatsu is probably the better option in the outfield for the Twins (better on defense, more likely to have an acceptable on-base percentage), but he only has a little stolen-base potential and almost no power, so Plouffe is the upside play based on the power he's shown (“upside” being very context-dependent here).[/quote:e1cf525335]
(Lillibridge came out of nowhere to hit 13 HR in 186 AB last year.)

Thanks for calling this buy to my attention. I am in a yahoo fantasy baseball league with 10 other guys from the boards here. A very savvy group. Normally there is very little time to pick up a guy like this. 95% of the time when I think I have found a sleeper someone else has already snapped him up. So I was pleasantly surprised to see him out there still.
