My second ever playoff team!!!

My second ever playoff team!!!

I have yoyo'd pretty bad through 4 seasons of Strato. I went 81-81 in my first season. 93-69 in my second season. 71-91 in my 3rd season. And tonight I clinched my division in my 4th season. I have a lot of non 600 PA's to rest on the last day so I'm sure I'll get swept on the last day meaning my record will be 85-77. Not great but it was a tough division with all 4 teams around .500 all season beating each other. In fact I only had a winning record vs one of my division opponents, 13-11, 12-12, 8-13.

Rickey Henderson had a terrible season considering it was at Fenway. My decision to carry 2 lefty specialists worked out well as one of them pitched in 67 games and the other in 51 and both had decent numbers for their $. Youmans was his normal solid self. Cox was streaky but mostly disappointing. Nobody had a great season but many had solid or normal seasons.

I don't think my starting pitching is good enough to win in the playoffs but you never know. Maybe I'll get lucky. Getting in the playoffs is the hard part. Now it's just lady luck. I didn't come close to leading the league in any categories except Smith led in Saves. Smith won the Rolaids Award and Youmans won the Cy Young Award. I had no all-star starters offensively. Carter and Henderson won Gold Gloves.

I don't think that's a terrible season from Ricky Henderson. Here's a recent Ricky of mine in Fenway:

626 104 143 32 3 20 63 91 108 74 17 2 .228 .325 .385 Yours

683 138 160 31 5 32 89 88 117 98 29 9 .234 .322 .435 Mine
More RBI and Runs for me, but that's more a function of his teammates. He hit a few more HR's for me, but that could be due to the league parks.

My league was largely very offensive with lots of good hitting parks. I was really disappointed in the lack of HR's at Fenway. I had seen Rickey hit around 30 HR's generally so I really expected more. I see the BA/OBP were similar for you but I just didn't get any real run production as he constantly killed innings and never provided any pop till the very end of the season. He was at 14 HR's with like 30 games left. He hit 4 in the last 10 games to make it look a little better than it was all season.

It just threw me off. Building the roster I thought I could hit Rickey in the 3 hole vs RHP pitching based on his previous seasons I had witnessed where he was around 30+ HR's each time. It didn't work out that way but Davis stayed generally healthy which was lucky and that compensated for it a little bit. Rickey only hit 11 HR's at home. He didn't miss a single game due to health either.
