paralysis from analysis

in the words of Lloyd Braun, Frank Costanza, and Kramer, just keep repeating the following as HAL screws you time and time again:

"serenity now.....serenity now"

and if that doesn't work, try........."HOOTCHEEMOMMA!"

"I could have runners on first and second [b:3eb934f54d]with a hot hitter at the plate[/b:3eb934f54d] with one out.'

A hot hitter at the plate...

[quote:577d3e7d3d]Lol, I totally agree about the bullpen. I have tried using my settings 1000 different ways and I haven't found a single setup that makes HAL use my bullpen like I actually would at all[/quote:577d3e7d3d]

Gentlemen...the secret to having a a well operating pen is to give Hal enough options.....if he has the enough of the right manpower he runs a damn fine pen

while he will never be perfect(see rburgh post above) he is sooooo much better since the upgrade a few years back.

I will post some examples soon....

here is a great example....

http://fantasygames.sportingnews.com/stratomatic/team/team_other.html?user_id=375005

pen went 25-14 with 50 saves

I didnt set a single role(closer/middle/setup/specialist) for this pen. I set hooks, avoids and innings limits but Hal determined who came in when and who finished etc

Team lost in the finals

I have to agree with splinter here.

You need 5-6 arms in your bullpen nowadays.

Closer
Setup (Can be the same as closer if he's a R1/C6 or R2/C5-6)
2 Hard RH's
2 Hard LH's

this is from this set...

24 man league so all the talent was in play...FA wire bare.

I had to go with Feliz as my primary closer and he did great until a late season fade where he blew 6 games and took the loss in them all( some poor D contributed as well)

but look at the role players.....great combined ERA and W/L and SV stats

give Hal the options and he will utilize them!

I don't have a problem with HAL. I might be yelling get the hook, but it make things fun.

The only thing that I watch for after the game is over is how many times did I get burned or helped from the BPS and BPHR. I have lost games from a 1-3 BPS and won games because the other team missed on a 1-19 BPHR. One game I missed out on 3 BPHR's 1-19. I posted it on this thread. I think back to back hitters in one inning.
I just build a team and enjoy the outcome or not. Just finished two leagues where one team had 90 wins and the other had 80. You quessed it the 90 win team lost the finals in 6 and the 80 win team won it all in 4 games I think.
It is what it is. ( I hate that saying but it is true. )
