I haven't played the board or PC game in a while, but isn't there a +2 modifier for doubles to CF? If so, you had a 65 percent chance to get within one run and have a chance for a sacrifice fly (since the batter will take third on the throw) to take the lead. I'd bump baserunning down to conservative if you don't like those odds.

Gentlemen...the secret to having a a well operating pen is to give Hal enough options.....if he has the enough of the right manpower he runs a damn fine pen

while he will never be perfect(see rburgh post above) he is sooooo much better since the upgrade a few years back.

Agree! I am very pleased with HAL's management of my bullpen since Bullpen v2.

I often run a 5-man rotation and keep 11 pitchers:

Five starters (duh!) usually 2.75 - 4+ mil each
extra starter-reliever for mopup <1 mil
closer 2 - 3.5 mil
setup 2 - 3.5 mil
middle 1.5 - 2.5 mil
pitch when behind 1 - 2 mil
backup closer/backup mopup <1 mil

I don't use LH/RH specialists.

I'm not saying this is the ideal, but it works for me.
