HAL makes a mistake

HAL makes a mistake

Game #72 Top of the 10th. Ruiz on 1st. Giambi gets HBP and injured. backup catcher Ramon Castro inserted as PR for Ruiz instead of Giambi. So now it's Castro on 2nd , Giambi on 1st. Castro did remain at DH, but it was supposed to Soriano. Didn't matter because both Castro ABs were pitcher card rolls.

Apparently HAL made a sub thinking catcher Ruiz got injured instead of Giambi?

If you were watching the replay, it might just be a display issue. In other words, Ruiz did run for Giambi but the replay feature simply showed it wrong.

If you are saying Soriano was listed as backup DH on your lineup card, that only applies at the start of a new game. In-game substitutions are not based on your lineup settings; HAL makes up "his" own mind who to bring in in the middle of a game.

Yes, that's what appeared on the replay. Sadly, no one scored so it was probably only just a display issue. I don't have a backup for Giambi for a RHP.

It's odd that HAL put in Castro as PR. He is a 1-8 slowpoke.

When a player is injured, HAL will pinch run the player that will assume the injured player's position. Running speed is not a consideration in this case. It actually [i:5a02cf0db1]usually [/i:5a02cf0db1]makes sense since it conserves your bench.

Which leads to my original assumption that HAL thought the catcher Ruiz got injured instead of the DH Giambi. It doesn't make sense to waste your backup C like this.
