i don't have pena in any league.. I was just wondering if he and Helton were only bad in my (few) leagues, or if that was the case in a lot of leagues?

Napoli is my league MVP so far through 90 games; leads the league in homers with 30 dingers - .309 .406 .638 splits. In Coors.

[quote:a8c162c64b="Ninersphan"][quote:a8c162c64b="lev.cohen"]How have Todd Helton and Carlos Pena been for you guys?

In some of my leagues, they have been underachieving.[/quote:a8c162c64b]

Define "underachieving" for Pena, the guy had a .225 batting average last year.

He only has [b:a8c162c64b]4.2[/b:a8c162c64b] points of hits against LHP on his card and [b:a8c162c64b]11.9[/b:a8c162c64b] against RHP. Facing the pitching he'll see in a 12 team league, your dreaming if you think he'll hit above the mendoza line.
Top it off with the fact that a lot of his home run prowess has been relegated to ball park homerun chances and unless your playing in an all Coors or Yankees Stadium league what exactly are you expecting???

I'll admit it's probably one of the most overpriced cards in the set, part of that is the defense, but even so I don't think his card is worth 1.5 mil. let alone 5+

If you were expecting him to hit his card numbers based on his price...
well all I'll say is look at the cards not the prices.[/quote:a8c162c64b]

.........would a .113 batting average count as underachieving?.......yes it is early and only have him on the hope that 2012 will be better(keeper league)

Define "underachieving" for Pena, the guy had a .225 batting average last year.

He only has [b:5020ac4ce1]4.2[/b:5020ac4ce1] points of hits against LHP on his card and [b:5020ac4ce1]11.9[/b:5020ac4ce1] against RHP. Facing the pitching he'll see in a 12 team league, your dreaming if you think he'll hit above the mendoza line.

again,

[b:5020ac4ce1]4.2[/b:5020ac4ce1] and [b:5020ac4ce1]11.9[/b:5020ac4ce1] out of a possible 108 on either side, I'd say a .113 average is right about where I'd expect it to be.

Hafner platooning in Great American - so not a great park for him:

.249 .359 .437 Overall

.260 .379 .445 vs. just RH pitching

I have him platooning in Yankee Stadium:

Overall: .290 / .388 / .420
vs RHP: .290 / .391 / .425

Justin Upton

Postby corey375 » Fri Apr 20, 2012 10:34 am

Yeah, I know it's too early to start whining about Justin Upton's line through 12 games (home: Target Field): .182/.265/.250.

But at what point am I allowed to complain about his K rate?

Real life: 126 K's in 592 ABs, struck out 23.1 percent of the time.
For me: 17 K's in 44 ABs, 38.6 percent, on pace for 230 K's.

And I haven't gone back and done the math, but if there was a stat for striking out with runners in scoring position and nobody out, I guarantee Upton would be leading my league.

[quote:5317be40ea="coyote303"][quote:5317be40ea="coyote303"]My "ace" Brandon McCarthy is 2-14 after 105 games, after starting the year 0-10. However, his ERA is 4.29 (not good but not horrible either), so a lot of it is bad luck.
[/quote:5317be40ea]

This is how bad Brandon's luck has been. His last game, I scored [b:5317be40ea]18[/b:5317be40ea] runs for him. He was pitching shutout baseball for 3 2/3 innings when he got injured.[/quote:5317be40ea]

Mr. McCarthy is on a roll. Not only has his record "improved" to 5-15 and his ERA is now under 4.00, but he tossed a no-hitter tonight.

No matter how bad he was doing, he has a good card. So, I've stuck with him. (Unlike the manager in my league who just dumped an under-performing Tim Lincecum.)
