Yeah, after 66 games, the entire league has 16 qualified batters with OPS > .800

small sample size, and still early in the season (barely half done at best).
But over 4 leagues taht have played at least 1/4 of their seasons, these are the only guys who are top 25 in OPS across all 4 leagues

Bautista, Jose
Ramirez, Aramis
Fielder, Prince
Braun, Ryan

These are top 25 in OPS in 3/4 of them:

Kemp, Matt
Pujols, Albert
Cabrera, Miguel
Cano, Robinson

Short list and all studs. But if you were to make an all hitting team, I would start with those guys.

1st team after 87 games Fenway

Avila 311 ab, 273/365/470
Youk 255 ab, 377 obp
Encarnacion (platoon) 103 AB 301/348/476
Reed Johnson 290 ab, .307/372/524 (obviously the bell curve at work)
Bogusevic (platoon) 268 ab, 266/325/491
Quentin (platoon) 122 ab, .230/333/508
Sean Rodriguez (platoon) 71 ab vs ONLY LHP: .268/402/409 (sucks vs RHP)

team obp 325; 187 doubles (drafted trying to get doubles-hitters)

Screwy cards this year. In two pre-card leagues after 69 games, the unleashed one has 14 qualified batters with OPS > .800, while the standard one has 19.

In looking at the real MLB stats for 2011, I see the season finished with 63 qualified batters with OPS > .800.

Why would the card set be so skewed to the low end?

'Cause the real MLB isn't facing only the top 120-150 pitchers night in and and night out

That's true enough, Niner, but it's also been true in other years, without the same impact on hitting,.

True, but offense in MLB is declining as we leave the steriod era and pitching seems to be on an upswing, put the two together and VIOLA, you have underperforming hitters.

Ok, I missed 4/9, but built a hitting team in a pitchers/neutral park. Average of 43 OB over the lineup, with only Sandoval the only one not having 40+ OB chances on both sides.'

If this team STILL doesn't have a team OBP at least .350, something is wrong!
