Good points all.

I'd like to see 2 sets released. The regular set and then a second set with EVERYBODY carded.

They offer this product already. The card set is called "unleashed". Pretty sure everyone with fifty ab gets a card.

[quote:8e62b90474="ShakeyBoomer"]JoetheJet - without giving away your ratings, can you please tell us if you believe players like Rollins/Zobrist are way overpriced this year? Thanks...[/quote:8e62b90474]

Won't give away much really

[code:1:8e62b90474]
Over Hit
All Rat Name L-Rtg L Hit R-Rtg R Hit
0.874 0.904 Reyes,J+ 0.835 0.865 0.891 0.921
0.858 0.734 Rollins,J+ 0.718 0.601 0.918 0.791
[/code:1:8e62b90474]

I have Rollins very close in worth to Reyes with Reyes slightly more. The combination of being "decent" v RHP being a 1 and have an e8 instead of e24, PLUS 600 PA make them roughly the same. Reyes is also W v LHP.

[code:1:8e62b90474]
Over Hit
All Rat Name L-Rtg L Hit R-Rtg R Hit
.976 .868 Zobrist,B+ 1.101 .990 .923 .816
.955 .888 Cano,R* 0.997 .930 .937 .871
.953 .850 Phillips,B 1.018 .912 .925 .823
[/code:1:8e62b90474]

Zobrist compares to Cano or Phillips. All have 600 PA. Zob and Phil destroy LHP and that skews their ratings a bit. When you're doing an overall rating there is always this issue of "skews" if you assume a, say, 70/30 split, you still have to value those LH numbers 30% right? Well maybe it's sort of a challenge especially when it comes to pricing. But, theoretically, you're goign to face a LHP x% of the time and so you have to value that rating as 30% of the values.

At 2b I have the pricing close enough. I think in general middle infielders are priced at a premium value. Maybe that's a good idea, maybe it's not, but it's been that way for a few years.

BTW, if it had been my call De Aza and Ellis would have been included. Maybe Blanco too. I mean, he was on the team the WHOLE year.

Why did Henry Blanco not get a card

Postby Marklen » Fri Mar 09, 2012 1:06 pm

online? He has 100 at bats, and a regular card in the set. For guys in hold leagues, this is a problem.

[quote:342ade10ef="socalchiro"]When I played small ball and won, Ryan was my SS in 2010. Yes I suffered with his bat, but he was my cheap spot on the team used for his D.

I see the same exact card in the 2011 set. You get ONLY defense. And yet he's THAT much more?[/quote:342ade10ef]

Not even close to the same card. Better OB both ways, far fewer DP's and an AB bunt hit and run make him a useful offensive player. Last year he was useless.

I can certainly see what Bernie said about the "Unleashed" set being used specifically by Keeper Leagues, Pre-Card leagues, etc. Honestly, its no secret to anyone that this set exists and is available.

In my opinion, I think the main reason that Keeper League don't use the set is because there are actual "super fluke" cards out there (Parmalee, Pill, D. Murphy '10, C. Wells '10, Ryal '09, Avila '09) that can really make a HUGE difference on a team.

Just imagine your in a division race with your well planned out team with a Tulo, Votto, etc. and someone that snags a Donnie Murphy and Casper wells beats you out. Idk, it'd irk me.

Everybody jumps at the production they would get.

What happens when they get hurt?

With regards to the keeper leagues, you guys should petition your commissioners to switch to the unleashed set for next year. You can then have the commish make the desired exclusions or form a panel of some sort to vote on them. Brow beating TSN or Bernie over the matter is in most cases childish and in all cases fruitless. take ownership of it for yourselves instead of just complaining.

The problem I see with this is simple. There is no difference between a guy with 50 plates and a guy with 599. ( as far as injuries go) As I posted earlier I think it comes down to how much you want statistical anomalies to influence a game based purely on dice and statistics. Also I feel like most of this deabate is sparked by keeper leagues and in most/all of those formats the salary is of no consequence. However being able to play parmalee could be of significant consequence. no?
