Now available: alternate 2009 set with

How will this work when joining a league? Will the 2009 Unleashed set be identified separately so all teams joining a league must be 'unleashed' or will teams be able to unleash themselves while the rest of the league could be the standard set (so you have a mixed bag)? I don't see anything under 'League Rules' that differentiates this.

Unleashed? Hah! If you want unleashed, put together a league from my old Pony League from 1978. My team average nearly 20 runs per game. I batted over .600. Now, there is an "unleashed" league.

*OK, my hitting card would be phenomenal...but my 2b-4 E71 defensive rating would probably drive my card cost down!

Maybe...but if they were included to begin with this wouldn't be an issue...I happen to feel that there are several excellent cards in the offering and would certainly help fill rosters in a 24 team league

I don't see how this really helps out that much. They added 12 players, all hitters, and that's it. At least the Negro League additions to ATG were over 100 players. This "unleashed" set is really not that different from the main set. If you want to be "unleashed", add all the CD-ROM cards, too.

Cut Bernie some slack. He is just offering an extra option. I do not see that as a bad thing. It is impossible to please all of the people all of the time.

Is there a list of just the 12 players in question anywhere?

The greatest freak card of all time was Rudy Pemberton from the 1996 card set. In real life Pemberton hit over.500 in just over 40 ABs with the Red Sox. His card featured over .900 on base against right hand pitchers. His 2 column against RH pitchers was solid with doubles except for a 2-7 hit by pitch roll. Against left hand pitchers, he still had a 700+ on base card with a few home run splits.

I had him in a face-to-face league at work that year. Rudy averaged a single, double and a walk (mostly intentional)per game along with better than a run scored per game. And mind you, that was in a four man league against 12 really good starting pitchers.

Freak cards do throw the game off. Your previous policy of excluding them should have been upheld in my opinion to stay consistent for whatever my opinion is worth on the matter.

Taylor Teagarden, a catcher, was last year's freak card. He had over 20+ home run chances against RH pitching. His one column was lamost solid Home Run except for those banes of freak cards being the outs on the 1-7 and 1-8 rolls.

Sam Horn represent! And his twin brother Kevin Maas.

Please don't assume you know anything about how much effort this took! Or the circumstances surrounding any effort, generally. Part of this was a proof of concept explicitly demonstrating how easy it's become to add new subsets.

As I said, I don't expect this option to become The Next Hot Thing. I never pretended this is a ground-breaking achievement.

Same here! That card was a sight to behold.

Previous policy? This subset was created just so we can maintain that very policy while (trying to) please people who disagree with it.

Whatever the effort level it was, I still don't understand why time was spent on this when a list of requests continues to sit on your desk. If it was so easy, too, why did I see comments on the forum about glitches with this new "subset"??

As for subsets, what about starting with subsets in ATG, where they are clearly much more needed, than with adding 12 cards?
