The only rule you need to add is what the penalty is for having a 0.51 or greater pitcher start a game.

Welcome aboard, ET & T.Rich.

etdefender, can you take over as Commisioner from here forward? If you can't, I'll do it; but I'd prefer for you to.

Besides a penalty for a starting pitcher over $.50m (which I hope doesn't even happen), we also need a declaration about DH or no DH. It seems to me that this type of league (shallow pitching, a lot of money available for hitting) we would need a DH. Therefore, I modified my post on top to include DH. Again, if this is wrong, please let me know.

The rule in the first league I did (which was never imposed) was that a first violation of the SP rule meant you had to sit your highest-priced hitter for one series. Two series for the second violation, etc. Despite having a "zero tolerance" policy, no-one ever violated (to my knowledge!).

I've commished a couple of these theme leagues in 02 and 03, and the concept was originated (to my knowledge) by JaserD. There was the Nelson Figueroa and Calvin Maduro leagues in 02, and the Nick Bierbrodt league last year.

The first thing that needs to happen is somebody has to figure the 60 lowest priced SPs in the set (12x5). In past years, there weren't enough of the .50 guys to cover the teams, so the cutoff was somewhere around .65. All SP or SP/RP under that price point were to be used, and none above it. In 2005, there are 66 SP or SP/RP at the .50 price - with 16 lefties and 3 *.

Each team was allowed only 5 SP or SP/RP below the price line, then each team had to have 5 pure RP. These were DH leagues and usually had unique ballparks.

Owners were expected to have their pitching rosters corrected by the end of the day of waivers (during the draft, somebody always ends up with an SP/RP above the price line). We never had a problem with roster correction and there was never any opportunity to have a non-qualified SP start a game.

If we can fill to start by next Monday I'm in. Otherwise, we may have to look to the first alternate to take over my spot.
